About Jose Mauricio Cadavid:

Born in 1952 in Medellin, Colombia, Cadavid’s artistic talents were evident from an early age. As a student, Cadavid was eager and avid to learn, leading him to pursue formal studies at the Instituto de Bellas Artes, Muzeo de Zea, and Instituto de Artes, all in his native Colombia.

From 1979 to 1982, Cadavid studies fine arts at the Art Student League of New York. During this time, he worked closely with Knox Martin and Leo Manso. A McDowell Scholarship recipient of the year 1983-1984, Cadavid traveled throughout France, Spain, Holland, and Italy to study the masters of fine art. After the year of traveling and studying, he continued silk-screening studies at the Manhattan School of Printing.

Since then, Cadavid has enjoyed success as an artist. In 1983, he staged a one-man show at the Art Student League in New York City and was featured in the Grant Recipients Show at the Lincoln Center. In 2003, Cadavid’s one-man show was displayed at the Jericho public Library in the Nassau County, New York. His fine artwork can also be seen in various private collections in Colombia, Europe, Israel and the U.S.

A native of St. Louis, Mo. USA, Richie developed a unique vocal, guitar and songwriting style early in his career.
